Biography

Maurice Pierre was born on the French/Creole/English island of Saint Lucia in the Caribbean. He studied classical music, trumpet and French horn at the Royal Saint Lucia Police Band under the baton and tutelage of the late great genius, Randolph Beckles. Maurice trained and worked the Food & Beverage sector of the hospitality industry in hotels such as Holiday Inn & Cariblue in St Lucia. Maurice also performed with many local bands in St. Lucia such as Chapter 8 and the Halcyon Days Hotel show band in Vieux Fort Saint Lucia.

As a Canadian citizen he has been a North American entertainer for many years as a singer, pianist, songwriter, composer and producer.

Maurice has written two novels. One set in France, the other in Africa. "The Corporate Orphan.

Maurice's literary interest was inspired by the incomparable St Lucian educator, Martha Pierre. In fact, Martha Pierre also initiated his appointment to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Band, after the orchestra performed a concert at his school. His mother's overwhelming enthusiasm,sealed the deal. Maurice is currently on his third book which will be his autobiography.

Maurice is very active in the Canadian hotel industry. His previous positions includes, Front Office Manager for the Homewood Suites by Hilton London. Front Office Manager for the Residence Inn London by Marriott. Night Auditor and Front Desk for Westmont Hospitality and Palm Holdings-in cluding The Diamond Canada Group @ the Quality Suites Hotel, London.

Maurice has qualifications in Hotel & Restaurant Management and Travel & Tourism.

As a member of socan.ca since the early 1980s, he has an impressive catalogue of registered original songs.

Maurice performed on keyboards and vocals as a member of the "The Tradewinds" with Dave Martins throughout Canada, Guyana & Suriname, Madison Square Gardens N.Y, Boston, Trinidad & Tobago & Barbados.

Maurice also performed with the legendary sax player from Toronto,King Herbert, on keyboards and vocals throughout Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick.

As a solo artist throughout the 1980s & 1990s, Maurice entertained in major Canadian hotels and venues in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and London.

Maurice's U.S. touring schedule for many summers from 1990 to 2003, included the Riveredge Resort, Bonnie Castle Hotel and Cavalarios Steak & Seafood House in Alexandria Bay, NY in the fabulous Thousand Islands NY.

There's a new CD in the pipeline awaiting studio vocals, mix-down, mastering, etc. This CD will include "Lady Spencer" A song Maurice wrote the very night of the tragic death of "Lady Diana Spencer", as the news unfolded on national television. Maurice tried making the song available to Elton John and his organization since the tragedy, but to no avail. Maurice will release the CD "Lady Spencer" in 2022. "A Monarch Butterfly, whose wings were clipped, before she learned to fly".
